05/22/2005: "The First County Wide Leadership Class"

It was over a year ago when the word went out that Skagit Valley College, working with the aid of the SJC Economic Development Council, would be accepting nominations for a six month course designed to help and create leadership skills and knowledge that would benefit not only the participants, but also the community.

A commencement dinner was held on Sunday to present certificates of completion to the participants of the first county wide Leadership program.
The commencement speaker was County Commissioner Chair Miller, representing the BOCC, and both Commissioners Ranker and Lichter, and other county notables were in attendance.
In conversation with Skagit Valley College Director Colleen Clancy, the Guardian was told that some of the members of this, the first class, would now continue the program, and that a ten year reunion dinner was planned. The future dinner will also be a commencement dinner for that class of nine years distance, and will include the graduates of the next nine years of programs as guests. Something to look forward to if you become involved: Additional information on how to become involved can be obtained from Skagit Valley College.
