01/09/2018: "Suggestions Wanted On Land Use Regulations"

The deadline for proposed amendments to the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan and Uniform Development Code (UDC) is 4:30 pm March 1, 2018.

The Growth Management Act at RCW 36.70A.470(2) allows interested persons including applicants, citizens, hearing examiners, and staff of other agencies, to request amendments to the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan maps, policies or development regulations. There are two types of amendments:

• Comprehensive Plan/Code Text Amendments, and
• Comprehensive Plan Map Amendments
Suggestions for amendments are submitted to the Community Development Department by March 1 each year

This process is known as the “Annual Docket of Comprehensive Plan Amendments” or “Docket” process. Development regulations are those contained in Titles 16 and 18 of San Juan County Code.

Completed applications must be submitted by 4:30 pm March 1, 2018 to the SJC Department of Community Development, P.O. Box 947, Friday Harbor, WA 98250; or delivered to DCD at 135 Rhone Street, Friday Harbor, WA; or emailed to adamz@sanjuanco.com.

Application fees will not be required for 2018 land use designation changes/docket applications if you indicate on your application that you would like your request considered under the comprehensive land use analysis of the SJC Comprehensive Plan update and not individually.

Application forms and additional information are available at: www.sanjuanco.com/1179/Annual-Docket or the DCD office, 135 Rhone Street, Friday Harbor during weekday business hours from 8 am to 4:30 pm (except holidays).

Please contact Adam Zack at (360) 370-7580 or via email at adamz@sanjuanco.com if you have any questions or need additional assistance.

The Growth Management Act at RCW 36.70A.470(2) allows any interested person, including applicants, citizens, hearing examiners, and staff of other agencies, to request amendments to the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan or development code. This process is known as the annual “Docket” process.
