08/15/2010: "Friends for Life “Adopt-a-Thon”"

Friends for Life Animal Rescue will be holding an Adopt-A-Thon on Friday August 20th from 11 to 5 - located in the field on Argyle Street across from Land Bank. Stop by and see them on your way to or from the Fair!

Friends for Life is a non-profit no-kill rescue group made up of dedicated volunteers who strive to find loving, forever homes for the animals in our care.

Instead of a central shelter, our animals are raised in foster homes where they receive love, medical care, socialization and one-on-one attention. We currently have volunteers in Skagit, Whatcom and San Juan Counties. Many of our small dogs are rescued from a high-kill shelter in California through a transport system of dedicated animal lovers. Without this partnership, the dogs would be facing overcrowding, disease and probable euthanasia.

Most of our kittens are orphans who have been bottle fed and raised lovingly from a very young age, sometimes just a few days old. They are extremely well socialized and get along well with other cats. People who have adopted our bottle-fed kittens have described them as happy, friendly, loving, and the best cats they have ever had.

Adopter John Boyd says “I have had 4 cats since I got married, and didn't think I'd want any more after our last two cats passed away from old age. But then I met Tigger & Flower, two bottle-raised kittens from Friends for Life. I have never had two sweeter and more loving cats. They have quickly won over our hearts and are much more affectionate to us and to each other than our other cats were at a similar age. I would highly recommend adopting a cat from FFL!”

If you are looking for a happy playful kitten who will cuddle on your lap and sleep with you at night, one of our kittens may be the perfect new friend for you!

All of our animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for internal and external parasites (worms, fleas). In addition our kittens have all tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. For more information, please contact Cindy at 360 223-5666 or check out our website at www.friendsforliferescue.org.
