ig_Tour_de_Lopez_2010_001 (37k image)Register now for the Tour De Lopez 2010 by clicking HERE; but hurry, they only have 40% openings left. This popular bike ride is a non-competitive road tour with 10, 17 & 31 mile routes through the scenic landscape of Lopez on our rural roads. Questions? Call 877-433-2789 or email: lopezchamber@lopezisland.com

The Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting the seventh annual Tour De Lopez on Saturday April 24, 2010. Many of you have been a part of this fun family-friendly event for several years now -we recognize many of the same names each year! Please remember to share the road with cars and follow all safe bicycling rules. We have designed the route to keep you off the main roads and post the route so local vehicles can avoid the areas but the roads are not closed to traffic. We encourage participants to consider making this a weekend getaway -it’s a great opportunity to see what Lopez has to offer.

Check-in for the ride is available at the Chamber of Commerce Office in Lopez Village Thursday or Friday from 11am-4pm OR Saturday morning from 9:30-11am at Odlin County Park -a short ride from the Lopez Ferry landing and 3 miles from town. Check-in is required to receive your lunch/snacks pass as well as a route map and details about the days ride and activities. The tour routes are marked with our “unique” recycled bikes and include marked designated rest stops with snacks, bulk water (please bring your own water bottles) and sani-cans available.

Your ride will conclude in the Village Park, next to Lopez Village Market, with a BBQ lunch presented by the Bay Cafe from 12:30-3pm for bicyclists as well as local residents. If you read feedback from previous rides you will notice the fantastic food is mentioned often! This year we are pleased to present Trish Hatley & Hans Brehmer Quartet*, a well-known innovative jazz group from the Seattle area, for your listening pleasure during lunch. So come join us for a fun ride and enjoy lunch while relaxing in the Village Park listening to some great music. Remember to register early as this is usually a sold-out event.

We are working with Washington State Ferries on ferry times for those coming for a day event on Saturday only. The spring schedule (not available to the public yet) has an early morning and late-morning departure for Lopez but WSF has agreed to offer 2 alternate departures that will make unscheduled stops on Lopez that morning to help accommodate riders. We will send all registrants ferry times when they are confirmed. We greatly appreciate WSF support of this event.

Fees include lunch and snacks:
$35 adults
$25 children 12 & under and
$100 per family (2adults, 2 kid’s - 4 lunch passes).
Lunch for non-riders will be available for $15.
A vegetarian option is available

Check their website for updated ride details, weekend events, accommodation and restaurant specials. Or call the Chamber office at 877-433-2789 with any questions.
